Named for - well, you know! Harvey Havana, an explorer.
Kidding. "The name was reportedly chosen due to the shape of an island at the mouth of the Spoon River resembling the shape of the island of Cuba." Okay.
It’s a nice little town.
So . . . did someone leave it to relatives, 2/3 - 1/3 split? Or did the owner just do this for variety?

OUMB, once. Not any more. I mean, it’s still ugly, but not a bank.

The sad sight of an old 30s storefront, falling off, abandoned.

Madison County Bank, its fine Corinthian columns truncated by time and unconcern.

Standard-issue mid-60s civic building. The sun is poison! No windows!

In the park:
Civil War memorial? No: it says 1881-1885, if I’m reading it correctly.

Could’ve lined that up a bit better, J. C. Oh well! Maybe next time.
Exactly! Now you got it.
