This is what you see as you approach from the north, heading into the park: a statue nestled in the trees, mute and white. In the old days downtown Fargo was mostly unencumbered by excess greenery - NP Park to the north provided shade and respite, but this was a park on a grand scale, a great green oasis at the foot of the hill. If you were wearing a suit and tie and a hat like a decent gentleman, walking down into its cool embrace on a hot July day must have felt like heaven.
